Well, the home studies have begun which means the process is beginning to move forward now. We have been spending our time working on paperwork and setting dates for our 2 home studies. The paperwork was much more than we anticipated so it took us a little longer than we expected. We had an Autobiography to complete, which was basically a packet about 10-20 pages with various questions about ourselves, families, jobs, you name it. Then we also had to get finger prints done, recommendations from family and friends, financial statements, etc. We still have a few misc. paperwork items to complete but those should be tied up within the next 2-3 weeks.

     Our first home study was this past Saturday. I won’t lie, we were very nervous since we were not sure what to expect. However, it went really well, and our worker made us feel very comfortable. It felt like we were just sitting and having a deep conversation with a friend. In fact there was a lot of laughing involved. Philip and I were able to also spend some great time together just talking about our pasts, our present, and our future plans. It really sparked a lot of excitement for us to have this process begin moving into the next phase. We know we still have a little ways to go before the actual placement, but at least we are moving in the right direction for us to get certified.

    Philip and I will begin fundraising pretty heavily these next few months, and we know that money can be so tight for so many. We just want everyone to know, that wether you support us through words of encouragement, prayer, sharing in our joy, or through financial giving, that we APPRECIATE IT ALL! At whatever level, we are so grateful. Words cannot describe how it feels to have people as excited for us as we are. We feel true love, commitment, and community through this process and we are so grateful.

    Our next steps will be another home study which is this Thursday, and finishing up our remaining paperwork. We will be working on doing a t-shirt fundraiser along with some other ideas we have.
